Gordon Moore


He was born January 3, 1929. Moore was born in San Francisco, California, but his family lived in nearby Pescadero, California where he grew up. Moore spent his freshman and sophomore years at San José State University.

He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1950 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry and minor in Physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1954.

He is best known for co-founding Intel Corporation with Robert Noyce & creating Moore’s Law. Moore's Law is the number of transistors that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit, doubling about every two years.

He worked at Intel until he retired & is still alive.
